And I didn’t want just any old barn door, I wanted something special for this door… after all it was the entrance to the Master Suite… and it had big shoes to fill by replacing the pirate flag. I joke, I kid… haha. But in all seriousness I wanted something AWESOME here and I wanted to try a woodworking technique that I hadn’t done before… tongue & groove joinery! But I also wanted this build to be approachable, so I made it from 2x6 fir boards you can get at any big box store.
When my client told me that she wanted a buffet (sideboard) that could hold a mini fridge, I knew this was going to be a fun project! She is transforming her formal living room space into a New Orleans themed pub room. So fun right!?! And then I thought that this would be great build to partner with Kreg and share the plans I designed on their DIY project plan site BuildSomething.com, so you could make one for yourself! But before you go there let me walk you thru some of the design process and new techniques I used on this build.
Sometimes I question if doing this business is worth it. The long hours, the wondering where the next job will come from, the not so glamorous wardrobe that I wear all the time, the messy hair/no makeup look..... and then I sit down and review all the things I built in 2017. Yes, yes, yes it was all worth it!!! I can't believe I get to and was able to make so many awesome things!!!!

You'll never guess what I got to do!?! I got to team up with the AWESOME Jen Woodhouse and be the first to build one of her plans! So, what did I get to build..... the Awesome Chunky 4x4 Console. This thing is beefy. It is a piece that will make a statement in any room and will last forever!
