DIY Outdoor Bench with Back

It’s that time of year again where I start thinking of all outdoors projects! You see spring is my favorite time of year and I like to spend as much time outside, so having that right bench to hang out on is very important. The bench not only has to look good, but be comfortable and durable to with stand the AZ sun and monsoon season. Well, I teamed up with my friends over at Simpson Strong-Tie and I think I came up with the perfect bench that is easy on the eyes, easy to build, comfortable and is gonna last a long time no matter where you live.

How I Upcycled Coffee Table To A Bench

One mans junk is another man’s treasure. Recycle, reuse, repurpose…. or like I like to call it Upcycle! When I was first starting out making stuff I did a lot of upcycles. I thought of them as cheap learning experiences. You can usually find cheap pieces on the street, a garage sale, Facebook marketplace or Goodwill. And since they are cheap, if you totally mess them up it isn’t that big of a deal.

Modern Shiplap Hall Tree Bench

This build is inspired by my most popular build to date… the “OG” Shiplap Hall Tree Bench. In my humble opinion it is an awesome design, but it is more on the farmhouse side. And since like me and a lot of others style is leaning more on the modern side these days I thought it would be fun to design a modern version. Hence the “Modern” Shiplap Hall Tree Bench… think black paint, vertical shiplap, light wood and AWESOME!

Power Carved Textured Storage Bench | With DIY Plans

One of my favorite builds in 2019 was my Bubbly Bar Cabinet. It is not only functional, but it looks super awesome and was my introduction into power carving. Ever since that build I knew I wanted to do more of it, so I teamed up with Saburrtooth Powering Carving Tools to create another AWESOME piece. And this time I knew I wanted to add texture to the whole piece. And what better piece to start with than a bench, a storage bench, because everybody could use a bench and a storage bench is even better! So let me start with showing you how I created the bench.

DIY Highback Mudroom Bench

If you are like most people you need a place when you first come in your home to drop stuff! Whether it be in the entryway, the laundry room, the garage, or a dedicated mudroom having a place where the shoes, coats, purses, backpacks, etc. can live helps keep the rest of the house from being one big drop zone. So when my client came to me needing a spot just like this for a small space in her laundry room, we designed something that worked perfect for her space. But not only that I think this piece could work for a lot of people and was an easy and fun build that you could easily put your design or personality stamp on.

DIY Modern Bench with Back

It was inspired by a two-tone bench that I had made when I was first starting out. I loved that there are so many different ways you can finish it to fit your space or put your personality stamp on it. But did think it would be fun to add a little bit of an upgrade… or in this case a back rest. And not just a straight up and down back rest, but one that was tapered and would actually make the bench comfortable to be sat at.

Well the time has finally come! I am so excited to share with you plans to build your very own Shiplap Hall Tree Bench. This has been a long time coming and some of you have been very patient. Thank you for that!

So since this is my very first set of full printable plans they might not be perfect. So once you have downloaded them and had a chance to look them over I would love any feedback you. More detail, too much detail, etc.

Shiplap Hall Tree Bench

Since I have started building, which is almost 3 years now, no other project has gotten as much attention and likes as my Shiplap Hall Tree Bench. This was such a fun piece to create and even though it is big, it wasn't that difficult to build. Except moving it around as it got bigger.
